EarthCorps appoints Christine Tang as new Executive Director

EarthCorps is pleased to announce the appointment of Christine Tang as its new Executive Director. Tang brings over two decades of experience at the intersection of environmental justice, racial equity, youth leadership, and community engagement. As Executive Director, she will lead EarthCorps in realizing an equitable world where all people and nature thrive together.
“Tang’s extensive experience driving systemic change and cultivating emerging leaders makes her an exceptional fit to lead EarthCorps into this new chapter as a Conservation Corps,” said Board President Shanon Tysland. “We are defining our place in the global environmental movement, and as Executive Director, Tang will head initiatives that reimagine how we empower our community as we restore native habitats, promote resilience, and foster a healthier planet.”
Tang previously served as the Executive Director of Families of Color Seattle, where she expanded programs that supported thousands of families – driving conversations on racial justice and amplifying voices for socio-economic reform.
“I am deeply honored to join EarthCorps,” said Tang. “In this role, I’m committed to nurturing a new generation of leaders who are developing the technical skills to lead the environmental movement and reflecting the cultural and racial diversity of the communities most impacted by environmental degradation.”
Tang’s leadership is heavily influenced by her cross-cultural background, global perspective, and commitment to accountability and change. At EarthCorps, she aims to honor values of curiosity, transparency, and inclusivity while strengthening the foundations required for long-term impact by rebuilding relationships, listening to community feedback, and fostering trust.
Tang holds a Master of Environmental Law from George Washington University Law School and a certificate in Executive Education from Harvard Business School.
