“Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children.” – Crazy Horse
Transcript: My name’s Nathan Tallar. I’m with Emmy’s crew. I think the reason, or no I should say… what resonates me with about Earth Corps’ mission. And… it’s kind of what… we’re doing is that I’m very much about environmental justice and about restoring the earth and helping preserve the natural resources for future generations. And I have a little quote from, uh, I don’t remember which, which tribe or famous chieftain… Native American chieftain in said this, but it goes like this: “we treat the earth well. It was not given to you by your parents. It was loaned to you from by your children. We did not, uh, inherit the earth from our ancestors. We, we borrow it for our children.”
And so what we’re doing here is just helping to restore the greater land of the United States. It was the land of hundreds of tribes from the Atlantic Pacific, and I guess I resonate a lot on this mission, just restoring the land that was, uh, degraded from the tribes. This is their land and we’re. And we’re, this isn’t our, we we’re just borrowers of this land, and it’s our job to restore it. That’s where our duty is. So I really resonate with what we’re doing.
