EarthCorps brings together passionate and hardworking young adults from the US and countries around the world for a yearlong leadership training program in Seattle, Washington. Our corps members learn leadership skills by working collaboratively, leading community volunteers, and executing technical restoration projects along shorelines, trails and in forests. Every day our corps is hard at work, improving the health of the Puget Sound region.  After the yearlong program, these young leaders leave EarthCorps with the tools and skills to help tackle the pressing issues of our time – including climate change, pollution, and ecological degradation – to create a better world for all of us.
 

Position Summary

The Recruiter and Program Administrator is a Full Time exempt position that is part of the Program Team at EarthCorps.  This team sets program curriculum and supports  over 50 training program participants each year.  We seek a team member to develop and implement hiring practices that are transparent and equitable, and inspire others to serve the environment.  The Recruiter and Program Administrator is responsible for finding extraordinary people to bring to EarthCorps and prepares them for success.  This role is often the first person potential candidates connect with and sets the tone for what it means to be a part of the EarthCorps community. 
 

Duties & Responsibilities

RECRUITMENT and OUTREACH
The recruiter will manage all aspects of attracting the best applicants to be International program participants at EarthCorps. The recruiter will develop and maintain relationships with relevant organizations around the world.  They will develop inclusive outreach materials for web and print. Recruitment tasks may include:
  • Collaborate with communications and program teams to develop an annual recruitment plan that challenges conventional practices and pushes EarthCorps to reach a broader audience.
  • Work together with key EarthCorps staff to implement the annual recruitment plan.
  • Research creative methods of recruitment to build a diverse applicant pool for EarthCorps positions.
  • Tracking recruitment relationships in our Salesforce database
HIRING
The recruiter will work to administer an equitable and human-centered hiring process for open positions at EarthCorps.  Tasks may include:
  • Coordinate and implement screening, interviewing and hiring processes for 15 International program participants annually.
  • Oversee Department of State guidelines and compliance for J-Visa sponsorship, support visa processing, and provide timely reporting as needed.
  • Coordinate screening, interviewing and hiring process for 15 AmeriCorps positions annually.
  • Coordinate screening, interviewing, and hiring processes for 1-2 staff positions annually. 
  • Prepare international corps members with information related to their housing, culture adjustment, program orientation and travel support.
INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM SUPPORT
  • Collaborate with recruitment team to determine placement in homestay families for international corps members.
  • Facilitate weekly international corps member meeting.
  • Coordinating program events such as homestay orientation and our annual Global Café.
  • Mentors international corps members with logistical and program support.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience interviewing and hiring young adults.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and conflict management skills. 
  • High level of organization and inclination to create and maintain systems.
  • High level of computer competence (especially database management, word processing, and Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and manage work priorities
  • Experience working or living in a cross-cultural/international setting
  • Experience with administration of J or F Visas.
  • Demonstrated interest in community service, environment and youth development.
  • Experience with Salesforce database.
  • Experience and comfort with public speaking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, organized, creative, self-directed and flexible.
  • Positive attitude and sense of humor.
  • At least one year experience in a conservation corps, or outdoor job.
  • Experience with job skills training, career placement, advising with young adults.

Benefits

-This is a full time, exempt position that requires some overnight and weekend work.
-Salary Range: $40,000-$45,000 depending on experience.
-Competitive benefits package includes: employer provided health insurance, dental insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, subsidized transit pass and staff training.
