About EarthCorps

EarthCorps brings together passionate and hardworking young adults from the US and countries around the world, for a yearlong environmental leadership training program in Seattle, Washington.  Our participants learn leadership skills by working collaboratively, leading thousands of community volunteers each year, and executing technical environmental restoration projects including salmon stream restoration, native tree plantings, invasive plant removal, wetland and shoreline restoration, and trail construction.

Position Summary

A temporary, non-exempt (hourly) position based in Seattle that provides support to EarthCorps’ Communications and Fund Development Team. The temporary position runs from July 16, 2018 through October 19, 2018. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in entering the nonprofit fundraising and communications world. Strong communications skills are required, as well as being a quick learner for database and digital media software. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Communications (45%)
  • Maintain EarthCorps’ Blog – coordinate, write, edit, and post EarthCorps blog posts
  • Coordinate and monitor EarthCorps social media posts including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter
  • Maintain EarthCorps’ WordPress website
  • Coordinate, write, edit, and send EarthCorps e-newsletters and mass emails
  • Assist with promotion of program and volunteer team events and campaigns
  • Assist with volunteer team outreach projects
 
Fund Development and Event Support (45%)
  • Assist Development Manager with logistics and promotion for EarthCorps’ 25th Anniversary Gala, including guest list coordination and audience development
  • Work with various teams to coordinate aspects of Alumni After Party for gala
  • Develop print materials and signage for gala using Indesign and Illustrator. May include coordination with graphic designer
  • Assist with event-related tasks, including purchasing and picking up event materials
  • Assist with set up and coordination of Gala on October 13, 2018 (8:00am-11:45pm)
Other (10%)
  • Perform various duties as needed

Desired Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a strong combination of the following skills:
  • Proficient writer, editor, and communicator
  • Aptitude for quickly learning WordPress, Campaign Monitor, Salesforce, and design software
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite desired (Illustrator, Indesign, and Photoshop)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Databases
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion in all interactions and communications
  • Ability to solve problems and think creatively when faced with obstacles
  • Efficient time manager and able to set and meet deadlines
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Highly organized and able to reprioritize tasks as needed
  • Flexibility and sense of humor
  • Able to carry out tasks with minimal supervision
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License, ability to drive and insurable driving record

Benefits

This is a temporary non-exempt hourly position at EarthCorps with a pay range of $17-$19 an hour DOE. This position could be 30 - 40 hours a week depending on desires of the applicant.
